Hi again, I had entered a post earlier involving formatting the ME well eventually I did get the operating system on actually I had it on several times but everytime I go to update a driver it swings back to Dos with message " Invalid System Disk". I would format or Fdisk to try and install it again and each time same thing happens am I formatting wrong I use a floppy startup disk and I'm not sure is the" Recovery Disk Media" that has an OEM number suppose to be in at the same time as the startup disk all the way through the process. as suggested in other post I tried changing the boot settings in the Bios but the only sequence that works is CD-ROM, A, C. It is 20BG,128ram,pentium 111, the system is AOPEN. Its not a Compaq,Dell or Packard Bell if this is any help and I did go site WindowsReinstall. com. I guess what I want to know is why won't the Operating System stay on. Sorry for the confused post. Thank-you

Hi SuzieQ,,If I'm understanding correctly you are using an EBD to fdisc and format and trying to use a Recovery Disk media(??) to re-load the OS,,not sure what a recovery disc media is but the way you are doing it you will need a full install operating system C D to make it work. Let us know..

YES you need to buy a full copy of the Operating System, a restore CD is a special version and you have deleted the manufacturers setup files, you will need to fdisk before installing:

I know how to format, I've done 98 several times but I never did a format with a system with a recovery disk I just wasn't sure if the format was the same. Does this mean everytime they have a crash or a system problem they will have to go to the manufacter's (future shop) to get it going. The computer is fairly new and has not been used much and the only disk that came with it is called Recovery Disk Media, which I never heard of but I did read in one of the ME articles that you can't use Real Media and I know that they did have Real Media on the system if it makes any difference. When they asked me to try and clean it up for them, when I got the computer it was frozen and I couldn't get anywhere so I thought that a format would fix it up my stupidity for not reading more on the ME. But why do I get the ME on the system and even been on the internet for a while yet when I try to update a driver that is when it goes back to invalid disk. Then I will get the ME back on it doesn't want to stay on. I'm not even close to a technician (obivious). And could I put Windows98 on the system. Thank you
