I have WIN ME on a Dell Dimension. I also have a problem. For a few years, I have been using a CD-RW in my drive "E" as a back up. I had many text files and picture files on it. One recent day, I wanted to copy some music files to a cd for my sister. I made what appears to be a huge mistake. I mistakenly tried to copy the music to my CD-RW that contained all my back up files. I used a program I had just down loaded called "Express Burn" The result was that I lost all the material I had previously backed up. That CD is now empty. But wait. The problem goes on. Now, when I try to copy anything onto a brand new CD-RW, I constantly get an error message "Cannot create or replace <file name>: Invalid MS-DOS function." I have removed the "Express Burn" program and have tried System Restore. The problem persists. Can anyone help me?

"...I have removed the "Express Burn" program..." ... are you still using Express Burn? ... if not which software are you using? ... try using CD-R instead of CD-RW (re-writable's) ... depending on the kind of data type you wish certain software requires that you format CD-RW's first. Grrrr wat do I know? ... got brain freeze

I may have solved my problem. I am using Roxio to copy to a CD-RW. I formatted the CD and it now seems to be OK. Thanks JC
