while im surving the net, my internet will suddenly stop. It is unable to load the next page. I then have to shut everything down and restat my computer. Some times the internet works great and will last for hours and other times it will only last 5 or 10 minutes. I also noticed that after playing solitare, (not on the internet), the internet wont work. i then have to also restart my computer

andrew__g, suspect things are simply timing out and turning off. Hibernate/sleep comes to mind. Sometimes, while we're busily playing games, etc., our machine is unaware it's being used and thinks it's inactive.
After so long a time (adjustable), it goes to sleep. Suggest you look at settings and adjust to never sleep or hibernate.

Besides hibernate and sleep ,also check your modem to see if you have a setting to disconnect after certain amount of time of inactivity ?
Good Luck Nick

IE has a problem with corrupt image files - i.e. some website photos. Go to Start, Settings, Control Panel, Internet Options, Advanced, and then scroll down and uncheck Show pictures.
Your graphics acceleration may be set too high. Go to Start, Settings, Control Panel, System, Hardware, then click the Graphics button and lower your acceleration.
Your cache may be too large. Sorry, I don't know how to change this in IE because I use AOL, so to change my cache size, I right-clicked on my AOL system folder. However you change it in I.E., you need to take the size down to 100 Mb, or even 50 Mb.
The main thing that helped me when I was having the same problem was unchecking Show Pictures. Afterwards, you'll see white boxes with a red X in them where the pictures were. If you want to see a particular picture, just right click on the white box, and click Show picture on the menu.
You might also want to re-check your firewall and/or SpywareBlaster settings. They may be set to disable all internet/computer communication for a certain number of minutes any time a DNS attack is detected, or whenever you happen across a 'dangerous' webpage. I love my free SpywareBlaster, but I had to disable the add-on for those attacks.
Hope this helps,
Kat
