Comment: Hi Internet Explorer will not open. I will click on the icon and the hourglass will appear for a few seconds but then disappear. About 5-10 minutes later it will open, but most likely be slow and freeze. The cable internet is working fine as well as outlook express. I have defragged, cleaned up, virus scanned and scan disc-ed. I have also reset the IE web settings to default. I do not know how to "repair" IE. Thanks!

Reply: (edit)Just a thought... In Internet Explorer, select Tools, Internet Options, Connections tab. Is the box that says "Always dial my default connection" checked?

Reply: (edit)Thanks for all the suggestions... the only thing is I have Internet Explorer 6, and When I go to add/remove programs, there is only an add/remove button. When i click internet explorer, it just says that it will uninstall it and restore previous configuration. I cant seem to find any repair tool.

Reply: (edit)The problem seems to be fixed. I went into add/remove programs and noticed some N-case programs, which turned out to be putting ads to my computer that i didn't want. When i uninstalled it, it said that if it is uninstalled incorrectly it may cuase programs to not run correctly. I may have deleted some files from the N-case program without uninstalling. I dont know how this ad-installing program got there. Thanks!

Reply: (edit)Ryan, Believe N-Case is spyware. Might want to run a program called Spybot Search and Destroy. Instructions and download found here: http://www.tomcoyote.org/SPYBOT/ And, as an extra measure of precaution, download and run Ad-Aware at: http://www.lavasoft.usa.com/software/adaware/ If you need assistance with either of these programs, post back. Also, look at this: http://www.doxdesk.com/parasite/nCase.html
