I Compaq 5000 with 933 MHz, 64MB RAM,21GB HDD. I have used Internet on this system. But after a month, it started to give the message "Page cannot be Displayed". I made it refresh and then i faced the problem that MSVCRT.DLL caused an error and every application get closed after clicking over the "OK"button after the Message. Modem get connected and its transferring the bytes indicating that Modem has no problem at all. The problem is with Internet Explorer. I have unistalled the Explorer as well thro Add/Remove utilty using contro panel. But in vain. I have installed another explorer provided by the Satyam, again it didn't succeed.I am fed up of this problem. Kindly suggest what to do.

I recently came across an article with information about things that can slow your computer down.

•One person had 37,000 files (that’s more than half a gb!) in his C:\Windows\Temporary Internet Files folder, which, while he was on the internet, caused his back button to frequently result in a “page expired” message. Also, when he clicked on “View Source” nothing would happen. The solution was to delete those files. Here’s how: in Internet Explorer, click on Tools/Internet Options, and on the General Tab, in the Temporary Internet Files section, click on Delete Files, and click on OK.

But it’s even better to keep them from being stored there in the first place. In Internet Explorer, click on Tools/Internet Options and on the Advanced tab check the box (if it isn’t already checked) next to “Empty Temporary Internet Files folder when browser is closed,” click on Apply and OK.
