When I close the browser window, I recieve an error message. After clicking close, the message still plagues the screen, it never goes away. I have scanned for spyware and it's all clean. I have AVG Anti Virus and ZoneAlarm firewall installed. The errors with IE seem to oddly appear every so often.

Try "Repairing" it...

Control Panel/Add-Remove Programs/highlight your IE entry...click on the add/remove button,choose to repair.

Or try re-installing it.

That's all I got!

It seems the 'Microsft Internet Explorer 6' add/remove entry has disappeared. It still shows all the Text Support. I'm going to reinstall IE6, problem is I have to redownload it all again. Oh the fun. Thank you for the help.

JodoKast, download a full version from this link

I think you will have less problems installing IE 5.5 0r 6.0 this way than using the Microsoft Updates.

So far,so good. I've downloaded and reinstalled it, and currently downloading the critical update patch. Good news, it now appears in the add/remove menu (Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 and tools) I'll be back if the errors re-emerge. Now I await the next load of computer problems from Windows Me. Thanks everyone for the help. :o)

The Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 and internet tools entry has dissappeared, yet again, from the add / remove menu. I used Windows Update to download it last time (bad idea) So now I have to redownload it all again. I think one of the registry cleaning programs may have removed the registry enteries.
I'm using:

RegClean
RegCleaner
Registry First Aid
Windows Scan Registry
(These were all being used when the first time this problem emerged.)

I've just restored most of my files back after having to reformat from an 'Invalid System Disk' boot problem.

I'm getting lots of errors in KERNEL32.DLL from random applications:
Internet Explorer, System Information, AIM and Winamp.

Internet Explorer 6 still works. I just get the errors when I close. I thought the errors where coming from having MSN Messenger open, which I feel is not safe and secure piece of software. Any ideas to what is causing IE to be marked as 'unistalled'?

Your are going to have to reformat hard drive. Had same problem and tried a work around, even went into registry. Kept loosing IE files. Would get back to proper opeartion and then loose it again on the next boot up.
