I connected to the internet today using IE6 and I noticed that when I scroll down the page it takes longer. Thats not all, when I right click the page, highlight a passage or even typing it takes a few seconds to respond.

This has never happened before and I tried the same tasks on Microsoft Word and there was no problem.

Any idea whats wrong?
Thanks.

Sounds like spyware/Adware slowing down the system or any of the many problems with Windows ME showing up.

Check Fix ME

I had the same problem. Internet Explorer was slow to scroll webpages and very slow to display typed information such as typing into the ebay search box. I found my browser homepage sometimes changed also, so I knew a browser hijacker program had been installed on my hard drive. I went to www.lavasoftusa.com/ and downloaded the free version of their "Ad Aware" program, installed and ran it, and it found and identified the malware files which had been added to my system registry, and on my hard drive. After Ad Aware quarantined these files, I restarted my computer and ran another scan and found nothing. Then I tested Internet Explorer and it runs perfectly again. PC-World has given this program "best product" award and it deserves it. Hope this helps a few people.

hi there.

My name is Mark, im a computer technician from Israel.

This problem has nothing to do with spyware nor with viruses or trojan horses.

Also, it has nothing to do with tasks.

This problem is caused when Internet Explorer uses a predefined style sheet and tries to force all pages to load according to this style sheet.

Here is the solution:
Go here:
tools-->internet options-->general tab-->accessibility-->
user style sheet-->format documents using my style sheet and uncheck the box. that's all.

Sincerely yours,

Mark.

Dave987 is spot on. The same happened to me, and his solution (using Ad-aware) work a treat. Cheers!

GUYS> I KNOW HOW TO FIX THE PROBLEM< NONE OF THE SPY WARES AND AD WaRE REMOVERS WORK!!

download HIJACKTHIS from this link.

http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/cwshredder.zip
after that run it then do the following:
first press scan. and then there is all this kind of written things and there is a check box next to them,
scroll down to the end of the list and then there is some called
C:\WINDOWS\Web\oslogo.bmp
check the box next to it, and then click Fix Check, and then a box comes up and then click YES, and then go back to internet explorer and say YESSSS. no more slow scrolling, highlight and stuff.

BUT GUYS< when u use Hijackthis program, only check that box and don't check any other box, becasue the other ones are important. C:\WINDOWS\Web\oslogo.bmp is the only one that cause internet explorer to be slow.
this slow scrolling and all the slow highlights are caused by a hijacker that sets it to internet explorer and it goes deep that spyware removers can't even see to detect. HIJACKTHIS removes it. but just remove that line that i told u, NOT THE OTHERS
