.m sorry I didnt proof read what I wrote, I meant internet options in the advanced panel, I have a hp computer that has no problems connecting and I was gonna retrive some files off my old e machine me, but it wont connect to the internet, I use the same lines to connect so I know its not a line problem, but not sure I have all the settings right in the internet options.

The solution to your problem will depend upon your Internet Connections settings.
If you are using Internet Explorer 6, you will find those at:-
Tools > Internet Options > ConnectionsTo achieve a connection, the computer must *also* have the TCP/IP protocol installed. And must *also* have the modem software properly installed.
The usual solution is to insert the CD supplied by your internet service provider, and follow the troubleshooting steps which it suggests, re-installing the ISP's supplied software from the CD when prompted.
For advice in this forum, you will need to post here a detailed description of what happens when you try to connect to the internet: a step-by-step account of what you do, and what you see on the screen in response. And you MUST include the exact wording of any error messages seen.
