Install the drivers for the NIC. The CD should be in the box that the card came in.

And how is your internet service supplied? Are you using dial-up - or more likely dsl; and if dsl what kind of "modem" do you have -one that uses usb to your PC, or cat-5 ethernet?

I'm online and got my brain back!!! :-)
I connected the dsl through cat5 cable. Problem was not the network controller, the settings for internet acces in the system were still on:
