Installing Win ME on a Compaq Presario 5900z

Need to install ME ( promo setup ) on a Compaq 5900z. Since they do not give us a copy of Win 98se ( only Quick Restore Disk ) I'm unclear on the step by step to do a clean install

If it is an upgrade copy you have and 98 is installed you are ok. If it is a full version and won't install over ME, you are going to have to wipe your hd clean first.

if you have a promo copy and no win98 disk, then I don't think you can do a clean install

Call COMPAQ and ask for a RECOVERY DISC for your model. It is free and will have all the software including windows 98 that was originally installed on your computer.
