Installing ME

I tried reinstalling ME. Reached the point of installing drivers and the pc quite responding. Message stated to turn pc off and then reboot. Same thing happened. So then I tried rebooting without the CD being installed and I got the same screen-just as if the CD was installed. Tried going into safemode and restoring a previous registry. No previous registry saved. Any help.

are you trying to install over the older setup or on a clean hard drive if you are writing over it dont take to good its better to reformat or better yet use a kill package to write oooooo to the hd (www.killdisk.com) after that you have to fdisk and set partition then install on a very clean hd hope i could help

I would like to do a clean install but I have files,programs, etc that I would lose. So this is why I'm trying to install over an existing istallstion.
