Hi,

I'm trying to upgrade my old pc to make use of it. But when i insert the Me/XP Boot CDs windows wont but. The keyboard and mouse do not lid up which mean the motherboard is not recognizing the input devices. I am now aiming for the BIOs. I downloaded some drivers "FIC AZ31 Uwave Driver" and paste them on a floppy disk and no luck. Any Ideas? I have a Compaq 5002US

Thanks

If by "windows won't but" you mean "windows won't boot", try resetting your system's BIOS/CMOS Settings to try and boot from the CD-ROM drive before trying to boot from the hard drive.

Eddie,

Does this computer have an OS installed? If it does, does it boot/start/load up properly?

You said, "The keyboard and mouse do not lightd up which mean the motherboard is not recognizing the input devices."

So, can you access your BIOS setup then?

Have you tried to start/boot your computer with a startup disk (floppy)? Does it start, if not wwhat errors do you receive. (That's if there is anything on the screen)

Do you see anything, on the monitor screen when it's (computer) turned on? Either with, or without any disks inserted (CD, Floppy)

What type of mouse and keyboard? (USB-PS/2-Wireless USB-ect.)

Where are these "Me/XP Boot CDs" from, and are they full/upgrade OS install CDs?

You said, "The system does not detect my keyboard, mouse nor video."

Could you elaborate on that, especially about the video, thanks.

No, the computer does not have an OS installed. I am unable to recieve video signal, therefore, I can see wether or not it is booting but i do hear the CD booting up.

You said, "The keyboard and mouse do not lightd up which mean the motherboard is not recognizing the input devices."

No I can not access the BIOS. I can't use the keyboard to reach the BIOS. and I have no video (no signal = black screen).

I tried using the motherboards drivers on a floppy. no luck. and nope, nothig on the screen.

No, i can't see crap just plain blank. i think its do to the fact that the motherboards drivers arent installed and its no picking up on the video card( nor keyboard and mouse).

What type of mouse and keyboard? (USB-PS/2-Wireless USB-ect.)

I have Regular PS/2 mouse and keyboard.

Where are these "Me/XP Boot CDs" from, and are they full/upgrade OS install CDs?

I have a full xp pro bootable cd (at least i think its booting) nonetheless. its a bootable copy.

You said, "The system does not detect my keyboard, mouse nor video." Could you elaborate on that, especially about the video, thanks.

I get no signal on either of the devices, in other words.

Btw, thanks a bundle for your reply.
Hope it helps you help me.

Hello Ed,

Ok, so we have a video problem to take care of first.

Without video, we are spinning are wheels and going no where.
;-)

Any beep codes/sounds when you try to start the computer?

I think you said card, but, is it a video card or integrated video on the motherboard. If it's a card (AGP-PCI), might try removing the card, and replacing it a couple of times. While powered down, and unplugged.

While you are doing this, make sure all connections are good. Power supply to motherboard, hdd, cd-rom, ect. Data cables, memory, ect. Might as well, since you are there.

No video, motherboard drivers, need to be preinstalled to POST. That's seperate from the OS.

Did this computer ever show anything on the screen, since you decided to "upgrade" it? The reason I ask, is because of the subject of your question "Installing BIOS". If it didn't, do you remember why it was retired/not used. If it did, that subject of your question, hmm.

Thanks, and you're welcome.

I hear no beeps.

I have an AGP video card. I've tried doing what you suggested and no luck yet.

While you are doing this, make sure all connections are good. Power supply to motherboard, hdd, cd-rom, ect. Data cables, memory, ect. Might as well, since you are there.

I've downloaed some drivers from FIC.com but did not boot from the floppy (AZ31).

Yeah it did when i bought it :-). The computing was collecting dust in my closet and so I decided to upgrade and make use of it. Sorry for no being more specific on the title. i did make another thread with a more reasonable title but it was deleted heh.

Thanks again. right now i will try to install windows on th drive from my other system and see how that works. Maybe it wil pick up some drivers or something (I'm running out of solutions as you can see lol).

Hello Ed,

Got busy, sorry didn't respond quicker.

When I asked, if it ever showed anything on the screen. I was talking about when you decided to "upgrade" it. Like after you cleaned it up, hooked things up, and powered it up. I would hope, it worked when you bought it ;-) Even if you just hooked it up, and powered it up. Did you see anything on the screen?

Like I said, with no video and beep codes, it's hard to know what is going on. Especially, with it not in front of me, and knowing all the specs of the computer.

As asked before, do you remember why you stopped using it. Also, was it working before you wiped the HDD in it.

When it starts, does the LED's for the floppy, CD-ROM, HDD light? If they do, do they stay illuminated?

Do you have an extra video card, that you could change out for the other?

At no time when it's starting, does the LED's on the keyboard flash?

Could/might be a BIOS problem. But, with out knowing for sure what is/isn't happening and when. It's a ruff call I'd start with trying to get video.

That also pertains, to the sounds/beeps. While you were cleaning things. Might you have loosened the speaker wire. Or even put it back to the wrong connector.

CrazyOne
p.s. I think you meant to say fica.com instead of FIC.com Or maybe fic.com.tw

*Nope, nothing on the screen at all.

Like I said, with no video and beep codes, it's hard to know what is going on. Especially, with it not in front of me, and knowing all the specs of the computer.

As asked before, do you remember why you stopped using it. Also, was it working before you wiped the HDD in it.

*I had built a new computer 100x better. Yes, it was working before wiping the drive (which i think used as an external drive on my new PC....*and format it using the new syste,)

When it starts, does the LED's for the floppy, CD-ROM, HDD light? If they do, do they stay illuminated?

*When i start the PC, I a sudden light on my keyboard and my mouse seem to be working now. Not sure if the floppy is working but it is well connected. My CD-ROM Reads. the HDD seem to work. The keyboard turns off after a quick second. My mouse stay on.

Do you have an extra video card, that you could change out for the other?

I wish i had. its a very old pc ( i think 2000).

At no time when it's starting, does the LED's on the keyboard flash?

*yeah

Could/might be a BIOS problem. But, with out knowing for sure what is/isn't happening and when. It's a ruff call I'd start with trying to get video.

*yeah, i'll see if i get a cheap one at my local computer store.

That also pertains, to the sounds/beeps. While you were cleaning things. Might you have loosened the speaker wire. Or even put it back to the wrong connector.

*Possibly, I'm not sure if it even has one.

CrazyOne

* fic.com.tw, correct.

*thanks again.
