Installed IE6, thx to w, gladis!

Hurrah for w and gladis! I'm writing 2.5 years after this thread occurred. Found you through googling the install error message. Tried w's solution without success; then tried gladis' idea to install IE 5.5 SP2 first. Did that install, then followed w's solution and voilá! I am now the proud new user of IE6SP1! Thanks a huge bunch to you all. I'm getting a giant straw for a tub of Foster's; you can all join me in spirit! ;-)
