Installed CDrw LG 8320 Big Problems

I have Intel P4 Win Me,I have recently installed a LG 32x speed gce 8320 CDRW. Lights flash, it is recognised in device manager which states it is working correctly, but it wont read cd,s when there inserted. ive clicked on my computer right clicked on cd rom/open but it still wont read cd,s door opens fine,lights flash but wont read. Beleive me ive checked everything !

Ive also changed the Drive twice still the same

I had this problem with a SAMSUNG CDRW/DVD. It could not read CD-r's but DVD's and CDRW worked every time. It was the drive that was faulty. Wawadave suggested I try the following... Remove the CD drive from the divice manager then reboot. Windows will find it again and will automatically reinstall it. Search this site first incase I have remembered it incorrectly.

Thanks for the advice but it is still the same,It will not recognise that there is a disc in the drive. The disc is placed inside the drive bay after a few seconds you can hear the drive attemting to spin up, but it is as if it wont spin up and recognise the disc. (if you know what i mean ? )my heads wrecked this is the second drive so surley it cant be faulty.ive even tried my old one and thats the same now ! ggggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Is the drive installed as master on IDE2? For some reason my LG CDRW would only work properly when set up as the master drive with the CD-ROM as slave.
