I am trying to reinstall windows me after having had to zero out my hard drive due to a virus. The problem is that the install keeps freezing when it gets to the driver6.cab file. What to do?

Various things come to mind...
Clean the CD; clean the cdrom (the lens inside may have a little muck that gets in the way at the wrong moment) - there are cd/dvdrom cleaning kits around for a few £££/$$$...
Take out the RAM and clean the contacts on the sticks. Use a soft eraser to to clean the contacts; wipe clean and re-install.
If two or more sticks RAM installed - reduce to a single stick (min 16Meg - preferably 32Meg) and see if it will let you get the installation completed; try each stick in turn.... If you manage it with one stick, then add in the other stick(s) in turn to see if things work OK afterwards...
You might also see if it will install from the hard-drive. Copy the setup folder to the drive and run the installation from there?

You HAD to? Why did you have to? There are numerous ways to deal with infection & most of them don't require wiping the drive.
Try cleaning the CD...

Thanks trvlr. I removed the additional RAM I had installed after market and that did the trick. The computer is now up and running.
