whenever I go to Windows Update site and choose to download an update the download goes ok but when it gets to the install portion it freezes up around 25% on install. I can't even reinstall ME from the cd. It freezes up after creating startup diskette. Alsp tried to go back to aug 12 on system restore and that didn't work either. Any Ideas!!

if windows ME is factory installed enforce your waranty with the computer manufacturer if you "upgraded" to windows ME reformat the hard drive and reinstall windows from the scratch (presuming that you keep your data backed up on external media) Regards

If you are using Norton System Works there is a know issue between ME and Norton System Doctor. It is creating 50,000 junk files in the c:\windows\inf folder... and it will cause the exact problem that you describe here.
