turned on my pc got error message"invalid system,insert proper media with system installed"used a bootdisk,it starts to load the system to the memory then error message"can't find command.com specify the loacation" typing a:\command.com return with error "cant read from drive a".
i suspected it was a virus,on another pc antivirus scan shows that all were infected with the ECO.a virus.
the bios doesnt have [boot from cd] bios option.
so every time trying to boot from a clean write protect floppy it gets infected,can't access cdrom to use fdisk/mbr command from winme cd.even with write protect floppy it gets infected further more the diskette becomes unreadableon other machines.
can you please help.

Create a boot disk on a clean machine. Put the CD Rom drivers on it.

Write-protect it, and boot to it. It's not possible for the floppy to become infected if it's write-protected if the machine you use to create it is clean. That's the whole point of write-protect.

Reformat the drive (it's toast anyway) and reinstall your Operating System.

To remove the virus, follow the following steps:
- If you use the McAfee emergency disk, hit F8 at the starting Windows 95 message, and select Step-by-step Configuration. Say yes to everything except processing the autoexec.bat file.
- At the a:, type
BOOTSCAN C: /BOOT /CLEAN /NOMEM
