Everytime I load up my laptop, the screen becomes smaller and centers the picture in the middle of the laptop screen. The mouse is not detected and the colors look like they were changed to 16 colors. It also is asking for a password with a default user name, which hasn't happened before. It was was improperly shut down before it started doing this. I'm guessing that it is in safe mode, but I can't get anywhere without a mouse. Any suggestions?

rickenbacker76, SWAG, can you use the keyboard controls to navigate to your start button and restore to a previous date when it worked correctly? HTH. Ed in Texas.

Yes I can use the keyboard, but I'm not exactly sure how to restore to a previous date. It's not an option when I press F8 to choose how I want to run my computer. And yes the laptop has an A:\ drive. Thanks for your help!

Well I figured out how to do a system restore, but the only problem is that it freezes in the middle of the restoration. It says the program is not responding. I'm out of ideas
