Imm32.dll Error Message Installing or Running a Program (Q189495)

You will need to reextract mfc42.dll and imm32.dll from your ME cabinet files and put them in c:\windows\system.

To do this:
Boot to an ME bootdisk.
At the a:\> prompt type:

ext.exe

This will start the DOS extraction tool.

Location of the Cabinet files:
... it depends on who installed ME...
If you installed ME:
c:\windows\options\install
If your OEM company installed ME try:
c:\windows\options\cabs

Files you wish to extract type:
mfc42.dll imm32.dll

Where to put the files:
c:\windows\system

Confirm your typing by saying yes.

It should go through all of the CAB files and reextract those two files. At some point during the process you should see:

Extracting file...

After it is finished, pull out the bootdisk and boot into Windows.
