Comment: The internet is a wonderful thing for a lot of us. What is really wonderful is the fact that it is largely free!!! It is paid for by the advertising but if the "Anti-Pop-Up" brigade get their way we will very soon be paying for our time on the net. All it takes is a click or two to dismiss a pop-up, you don't even have to read them. Please for all our sakes....get rid of your anti-pop-up devices, encourage others to do the same and help us keep the internet free.

Reply: (edit)Think about this, what % of all the internet users use ani-pop up software? or even aware that it exists? maybe 5%? 10%? if we, the people with anti-pop up software, do not read those ads, just think how many more times of people that DO read them?

Reply: (edit)When.. 1.people stop spamming my mailboxes. 2.people stop making virus programs. 3.people stop trying to hack me. 4.people (ie Gator!) stop trying to slide into my 'puter without me knowing. 5.people make an Mp3 or other music site I can go to without being totally flooded off the net with pop-ups about (sometimes) disgusting and irelevant things I dont wanna know about.... THEN ask me to give up my Pop-up Stopper! Deli ;-)

Reply: (edit)I agree with Deli. When all those conditions are met, I'll consider giving up my pop-up stopper.

Reply: (edit)How much does a pop up stopper slow down your computer since it is reading the incoming data all the time before it hits the screen?

Reply: (edit)Who cares about speed. A popup is like me slapping a post it to your forehead while walking down the street. It doesnt neccesarily slow you down and can be removed very easy but it still sucks. And anyone whos writing checks for webmasters that use pop-ups is a fool. Those pop-ups make people hate you and your product. No one will buy one of those damn mini cameras that MSN spammed for over a year. FYI.. Pop-Ups are not advertising. You can still advertise and keep your site free without annoying the hell out of every visitor with a pop-up. Worst thing a webmaster could do: 1.Use comet curse. 2.Use pop-ups. 3.Prompt you to load gator. Worst thing a surfer could do: 1.Go back to those evil websites again.

Reply: (edit)I think there ARE better ways of advertising such as placing pictures or animated GIFs INSIDE THE WEB PAGE YOU'RE VIEWING (much like Geocities does when you visit a free website hosted by them). Popups are a very greedy way and they can cause great problems in large but common quantities (e.g. low system resources). I would NEVER give up my Panicware Popup Stopper.
