Comment: I am working on a system for a friend and after replacing the power supply to get it back up and running i have run Windows update and installed like 30 critical updates but now everytime I open internet explorer I get an error and then eventually it locks up windows. "Iexplorer has caused an error in KERNEL32.dll and will now close" Everytime I click OK it comes right back and then locks up the system and i have to hard boot it. I DO NOT get the error any other time in the using the computer and I instaled firefox and i can use that one fine BUT my friend will want to use IE. Other things I have done: Scanned for adware Cleared downloaded programs Cleared internet files and history THANKS IN ADVANCE

Reply: (edit)Couple of starting options would be either to repair IE, or start looking for iexplorer.exe, or similar. I'd do the latter first. :)

Reply: (edit)I tried doing the repair on IE and revert back to the older version but I got tons of KERNEL32.DLL errors while doing it. After reboot got more errors and then I tried IE again and got the same error...

Reply: (edit)If this issue is happening after the updates and you have no virus issues, than 2 options. 1. Upgrade IE to the next version up, or, 2. Use something better, example: Firefox. Core 2 Duo 1.86
