when using internet explorer version 6.0,when downloading something from the internet,I get nothing but a square in the left hand corner of the screen which has a square,circle,and a triangle in it. How do I correct this?

I think thats a a place holder for a java applet. Three dimensional colored shapes? Can you show us a screenshot?

When you say download.. explain please. Like downloading a file from cnet or like downloading chat software for yahoo?

Uninstall Quicktime and any other Download Managers you have installed. Then try downloading again.

If that does not solve the issue, head into the registry (start>>run>>regedit). Browse to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Plugins\Extensions

If there is a plus sign by that folder, click on the plus sign and take note of the names of the folders listed there. Post back with the names of the folders.

Answer to response #1. Downloading files from cnet.I cannot show you a screenshot,It won't let me.It probably is a placeholder from a java applet.Answer to response#2 on the HKEY local machine\software\microsoft\internet explorer\plugins\extensions is .asf windows media files and a exe file which is quicktime which i uninstalled.The problem still exists,any help would be appreciated.
