Comment:

I cannot install IE 6.
I have tried moving all of the files in the Uninstall Information folder to another folder. This almost worked but I still get "Set up had trouble finding ....
Cannot make directory entry error #52
Source C:\windows\temp\ixp00l.tmp\iesetup.inf
Destintation C:\sindows\temp\ixp001.tmp\iesetup.inf
I tell it to try again and it gets about 90% and then freezes up. I just tried to install turbo tax and it comes with ie6.
When it tried to install the same thing happened. What now?

Try booting your system and first running the System Tools - Disk CleanUp utility. Then run a quick SCANDISK to check the drive.

Then Open the C:\Windows\TEMP folder and delete ALL files and folder in it. Might be best to boot into Safe Mode to do this.

When done, reboot system and try intalling IE6sp1 again.

Get firefox, a better alternative browser for IE @ www.firefox.com It has tabbed browsing, putting many sites into one window and always installs.

Getting FireFox isn't gonna help...IE is necessary for Windows.

Do you have anti-virus, spyware removers (Adaware & Spybot), Regcleaner, CCleaner? If not, I suggest you get these & run them from safe mode to clear out any crap files or scumware (thanks jboy) that you've accumlated. Once you've cleared out the junk, try installing IE6 again
