I am having an issue where IE6 hangs when closing an IE window [I use multiple open window[s]], Internet explorer does not want to "release" the closed window, and the mouse cursor will stay at the "hand" mode, and I am unable to maneuver on the desktop. This happens when using a google search as a primary window, and exploring each link on the Google. It also happens when closing a page that opened from OE6. [Tech Republic/etc. newsletters]. I practice safe computing [AVG7.5.524/ZoneAlarm/SpyBot] I also use RegistryFirstAid and StartUpList. I use Norton Utilities [but NOT CrashGuard], Speed Disk and WipeInfo. It may be my imagination, but the problem seems to minimize/reduce, after I run WipeInfo. [wipes Slackspace and Freespace]. I have run all "fixes" I can find including those on Kelly's Korner [the old website], nothing works. I can invoke the closing of the previous page by rapid right/left clicking in an empty field of a google page, or by a three finger salute, and end the IE task. It is a very frustrating situation, and any/all ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.

I did install Java 1.5.0_15. I also edited the registry per: http://www.tech-archive.net/Archive... . All seems to back to normal now. Thanks for your valued input. Saved me [so far] a complete wipe/install.---Sam
