internet explorer takes about 3 min to load up compared to 30 seconds ive tied reinstalling it doesnt work also when i go to find files or folders from the start menu that doesnt work either but find works from windows explorer lots of errors and restarts are causing me lots of problems please help im using ie 6 and windows me also my system restore will not restore for me

i used adaware and that fixed my browsers but still having problems i get this message on startup Resume Windows Installation.ink or.lnk location unavailable also i cannot get into mouse or sytem from the control panel please help

It sounds like you have either a corrupted or an incomplete installation. Could have been caused by downloaded stuff or a virus. Since you've already used adaware, do a thorough anti-virus check with up to date definitions or go to http://housecall.antivirus.com/ for a check. Then clear out your temporary internet files and cookies, preferably from a startup disk. (If you don't know how, go here) http://www.computing.net/windowsme/wwwboard/forum/16885.html
After that, have a look at this post
http://www.computing.net/windowsme/wwwboard/forum/14062.html especially points 2,5,6,7,9When you have disabled almost everything in msconfig (after visiting pac's portal), uninstall any unusual or suspicious programs, even firewalls and anti-virus packages, and see if things improve.
If necessary, reinstall Windows over your existing installation or even format and do a completely clean install.

ive tried reinstalling norton 2002 evrything housecall wont even work now i need help to get my virus scan running again

Just for your information, I use Norton products a lot and I have always found it necessary to completely uninstall prior to a reinstall or a new install of Norton anything. That means using add/remove, then rebooting, then searching the hard drive for any mentions of Norton or Symantec and removing those folders, then searching the registry for same and removing those keys. Only then do I reinstall anything from Norton. And, while using LiveUpdate to bring Systemworks up to date again, I always disable the anti-virus programs in ctrl-alt-del before running Live Update. I have often found it necessary also to download only one update at a time, even to the point of expanding the + sign beside the update listed for a particular application and downloading only one of the sub-updates. It can also be necessary to reboot between each download of the sub-updates and to remember to deactivate anti-virus each time. It takes quite a while but it works and you then get a good install. If, after you download one update, you get a message which says "you chose not to install the 1 update available" ignore it because it is usually wrong. Great software, isn't it? But I still like it and use it. Luckily I don't have to reinstall it very often. :)
