HI ALL,
Having a weird IE problem. Using IE 6.0.
For some reason my Internet Explorer will not open certain web pages. In addition it will not oepn certain addresses that I type if I leave out the www. part. Like it will not accept google.com but www.google.com works fine. For example, I want to go to home.peoplepc.com (which comes up). When I click the 'My Account' link on the top it works fine, but clikcing the 'Upgrade' or 'Sign-Up' fails. Also, any time I try to enter a username and password in any webpage it fails.
I tried re-installing IE and I set everything back to default settings, plus I extracted a new copy of wsock32.dll... still to no luck. Thanks!

tabnaka, SWAG, sounds to me like you may have a nasty that's blocking. Suggest a scan.
"In addition it will not oepn (sp) certain addresses that I type if I leave out the www. part." Put it in. ???

Do a thorough housecleaning & spyware/virus scan. Try CCleaner, Ad-Aware, Spybot-Search & Destroy. They're all free:
Also, go to Control Panel, Add/Remove & see if there's a listing for IE6. If there is, there should be a 'repair' option available when you go to remove it. Try the repair....

???? omg! i was having the same problem...
i've tried virtually every solution on every forum on the internet (ok, perhaps a bit of an exaggeration...).... i found my problem, perhaps yours is similar? i feel like an idiot seeing how basic this is, but, right click on your desktop, highlight active desktop, then (and this is crucial) ****make sure "show web content" is checked.***
in my defense, i have *never* used winME and have been trying to fix this problem for a friend for well over a month now.
i hope this helps... if not, at least it won't take but a second to find out.
