IE mailto wont work in ME

Hi ppl, I installed win ME a while ago and it has IE 5.5 integrated. Now when at a webpage there is a link to email sombody (e.g. a webmaster or somebody who signed a guestbook), i click on the link and it gives me an error message saying: CANNOT SEND MAIL. NO MAIL PROGRAM IS SET UP TO SEND MAIL USING INTERNET SHORTCUTS.
I must mention i don't use Outlook Express.Could this be the problem, or is it something else?

What program do you use to send/receive mail?
If it is not webbased mail(ie: hotmail, yahoo, etc)... you should be able to go to control panel>>internet options>>programs tab and select the program you use from the drop down menu.
