My Internet Explorer 6 has been giving me problems. There a few websites that it won't go to. It says "This Page Can Not Be Displayed."
For example, I type www.adobe.com on the address bar and it does a search instead of just going there. Then I click on a link that says the Adobe home page and it gives me the above message.
The funny thing is that if I try adobe.com with Netscape or my Yahoo browser, I get the same kind of problem.
I tried redownloading and reinstalling IE6 with the latest security patches to no avail. I reset my internet options to defaults. And I am at a loss as to what to do.
Other websites don't work as well. I know that on other computers you can go there. Exxonmobil.com Citi bank are two others that don't work. Yet Wells Fargo and Bank of America are ok.
Do you have any insights?
Sincerely,
unmilkedcow

Have you cleared temporary internet files/cookies? Tried an IE repair? Scanned for spyware, trojans, viruses?

You could have your privacy settings too high, try lowering them in IE propeties.Set them at medium. Good Luck!

This usually happens when you are on a cable modem or DSL line and you have leased an IP of 192.x.x.x or your subnet is not set correctly. The easiest way to correct this is, connect to the internet and:
Start>>run>>command
You will be at a c:\windows\desktop prompt
Type:ipconfig /release_all
Some stuff will come up. All of it should be set to zero. Now type:
ipconfig /renew_all
This process can take a couple of minutes so be patient. When it is finished, you will have a new IP and subnet set for your connection. Try the sites again.
