Hi All,

Running ME
128 ram
AMD 850

I'm having great difficulty in d/l IE6, doesn't seem to be uncommon either, I've been to MANY answer pages and MSKB but they don't seem to answer the specific problem..which is..the IE6 d/l completes, I then go to the setup of it, it then tells me 'not all the components could be installed, please try again etc'I have done this several times but to no affect.

I have IE 5.5 on at present, so went to get the support pack 2 thinking this may have to be installed first before I can upgrade to IE6, this will not even complete the d/l but loops itself after about 75%.

I have turned off my firewall and anti-virus programmes before doing any of this just in case that was preventing the clean d/l. Has anybody had the same probs and cured it?? if so,I would
appreciate your comments.

Thanks to all in advance of any replies.

You could try here:

It may not be the done thing to ask this, but why would you want IE 6? It doesn't really add much functionality, it stops Java working on sites which have it, and it was mainly written for XP. I am quite happy with 5.5 and will stay with it until I upgrade to XP, which may be a very long time away.

i wont support IE6 but i will support trev on this one. the difference is minimal. the IE6 in xp is different than the one we can download, but it's not worth the hassle to upgrade to xp just for that when there's no advantage to it.

The "IE5.5 SP2" seemingly doesn't like java either.I am trying to iron out those wrinkles as we speak.

What's wrong with IE5.5? I agree with the rest, stay with 5.5. You know it works. What is it not doing for you that IE6 would do? If it is not broken, do not fix it.
Regards

If you really want IE6 (I have it and have no more problems than 5.5 - not really less either but certainly no more) Go to the following Micro$oft page and download it to your harddrive then install it from there:

Good luck!
