Subject: Identify this video card interface
OS: Windows ME
CPU/Ram: Athlon/128
Model/Manufacturer: Compaq/Presario 5WV282
Comment:
Does anyone know what the exact interface of this card is, it doesn't fit in my AGP slot (to test if it is working). Looking for a card to replace this for a customer and only has this slot or PCI open. Any cheap card would be fine.

Picture here: http://server3.pictiger.com/img/125...
Card Specs:
^Multimedia Graphics NVidia - Vanta LT Graphics Card with 8MB

Any advice appreciated.

It's an AGP card but the single notch means that it's a 3.3v card...probably AGP 2X. It won't work in an 8X board

You don't even know if the card is bad? What seems to be the problem with it?

Just because that particular card won't fit in your board doesn't mean anything...your board simply doesn't have an AGP slot that will accept 2X cards. The slot is setup that way deliberately so that you can't damage the card or the board by running the wrong voltages.

Make sure the Vanta is bad before buying a replacement.

You can find plenty of cheap older AGP 2X/4X cards here, but most are "pulls":

All the customer brought was his card and said nothing is displaying on his monitor, so he purchased a new monitor & that wasn't the problem. I haven't looked at his computer at all. Thanks jam for your input.

If it is his card is it safe to use a PCI card in his PC? I'm not used to working with the older PC.

My first thought would be a monitor problem.
