I seem to have a problem with icons they display very poor quality and someof them show up as a bubble ans some as a white square, i recently installed some unofficial software fromt the net but i dont know if that is the case, i reinstalled windows and installed a virus checker but it doesnt want to work. VIRUS??? or what? IS there a solution???

I'm running W98. Something just started on the desk top icon display. After the machine has been running 5-10 minutes, when you point the cursor/mouse at any ICON they all run into a corner when the pointer comes close. Ran Norton anti virus, no hit. Does any one know what the problem is.
ICON PROBLEM OR VIRU. Thanks for any help.

Short-term solution to the one where they run into the corner is to double click a space on the desktop and click auto-arrange. They still mess about a bit but nowhere near as much. Long-term solution would be good - funny, I got this on the same day so where's it coming from?
