I am running a local server on a Win/ME computer. There is an individual that keeps attacking me with an address of 10.44.64.1 which is not traceable. I have gone into my IP configuration settings and am able to change only the last part of the address. The person keeps finding me and my host tells me there is nothing they can do about it.I am runing Black Ice Defender and the individual has not actually penitrated my system as I can tell. What if anything can I do to get rid of this hacker??? Is there a way to change the entire IP address? Is there any hope for me??

Asuming that you are on broad band call your ISP then demand a new IP address. Your actual ISP could be probing your ports to test weather or not you are running a server. If so than what they told you is true. Most ISPs will drop you if they catch you running a server of any kind. I have @ HOME and agreed to NO servers and NO VPN. They responded to servers with the 128kbps cap. Depending on your ISP if they find that ports pertaining to servers are open you will get an E mail and they will drop you.
I came up with this>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

That would imply that you are being tracked by your ISP!!??! I would turn the server off for a few weeks. Also pings are normal on a broadcast network. Running a server is like jumping up and down shouting "Here I am!!"
I would not even consider running a server on Win-95/98/ME since you have no security at all!! Servers that are Unix based like Apachee and Free BSD are the norm. Your firewall will not fully protect you from hacks or probing. Give UP!!

It appears this hacker is everywhere, him/her/it/nerd has subsribed to numerous yahho groups and is flooding them with spam.

I have tried to trace them, but got the same results as mentioned in this forum.

There must be something we can do.

What about his server...somewhere in Brazil?????
