Ok.
Make sure you have made a recovery disc,
Reboot, pop it in, Wait, type Format:(Whatever your Harddrive is) Usually C..
So Format:C
It will ask if you really want to.. Say yeh.
This will fully format.. Ready for a new sys. Col..Then put your Windows or Branded disk in.. No worries.

No worries unless your bios is on the HD. No worries as long as you have windows and not a recovery disk that wont recognize your PC after the format. No worries as long as you have access to all your drivers. No worries if you dont mind buying software for your dvd rom that came preinstalled. No worries if you have means to backup all your data.

Click start/Open the run box/Paste this line into it
C:\WINDOWS\OPTIONS\INSTALL\CLEANHD.TXT
Click ok. Read the text file.

Well now, What we have here is a failure to communicate! At least in a polite manner...
Col, I must be one of the "Lucky Ones" also, I had no worries...

No failure to communicate in my previous post. I was just pointing out a few things for brady to look into before formatting the HD. Brady not inlcuding system specs and whether or not he or she had a recovery disk or a windows disk or any operating system at all is why i posted. I have seen posts with "i formatted, now what". In the thread you realize this person purchased a used pc with no software or OS inlcuded but failed to mention this. Most people realize you need an operating system on disk or partition to reinstall the operating system if it were removed while others throw out the recovery disks with the box when they get it unpacked. Those are the guys with the "i need a recovery disk for a compaq model ____".

Col, i consider anyone who formats and reinstalls lucky if they experience no errors inlcuding myself:).
Just about everyone gets a recovery cd with a store bought pc. If you have a recovery cd you usualy dont need to bother with format.
Just stick the recovery disk in, autorun will begin and choose the option to format and recover when prompted. Backing up data is still important as you will lose it all during format.
Recovery cd's usually reinstall everything so you dont need to backup drivers and software.

Hi SMUOD,
Thats Ok,
No Offense taken, But i think Brady had a virus, Dont know if he has Anti. V, I just
counted on him having all the Recovery disks.
Just autorunning, i think ,would leave him with the virus.
More info would have been nice, We'll have to wait and see what happens, Respect. Col.
