Hi and thanks to all who helped. In my last post it was suggested that the drive might be dead, so before I used any utility to check the drive I thought I would try to find other solutions (amateur Tech) so I went back 10 pages on the ME posts reading through them it had taken me to a post from someone with the same problem. He eventually found an article about Fujitsu hard drives being recalled and it gave the numbers of the model and dates sold over half were faulty and recalled "Lo and Behold" one of the numbers and date are exactly the same as this model. I have no doubt that is the problem and will be taken back right away. I wanted to post this in case someone else has the same problem, I spent a lot of time trying to get this computer going again and had I known about this article it would of saved me a lot of time and grief. Again thanks for the patience and help.

If the drive was in a non-Fujitsu PC, I think the guarantee is 12 months. If in a Fujitsu PC I think it's 36 months.
At least that's what I was told when I called them up in England.
Where did you get the list of numbers ?
Do you have the Computing.net post....Thanks

Hi, I don't remember what computing net post that led to me to this other forum I just kept going through links to anyone that had a similar problem. I ended up on a forum page called Tech Support Guy, the post was from June 17,03 and there were two links one was from www.theregister.co.uk other www.rapidpc.com they have a list of the drives. One with apparently the most problems was MPG3204AT-20GB that is what this drive is. There are a few articles on this in the register but raridpc have information on the numbers of the drives.
