Win Me, AMD Duron/800 MHZ

Hi Folks,

This must be an epidemic. I accidentally deleted this critical file (winspool.drv)
If someone coud email it to me and let me know how to install it, I would be very grateful.

Thanks very much.

Bob

To Whom It May Concern:

MY OS (WinME) apparently also has this problem!
If someone could please help me by emailing me a copy of this "Winspool.drv" file, I would greatly appreciate it.

And thank you for your response.

Sincerely,
Rudy

Dear all,

After further research, I found a much more clever way to reinstall the missing WINSPOOL.DRV file... (read the email below from a fellow named "Matt")

WORKED FOR ME!!!

Here's MY step-by-step process:

- Goto the Start, select "RUN"
- Type "msconfing" (without parenthesis)
- On the System Configuration window, click the "Extract File" button.
- On the "Specify system file" field, type "WINSPOOL.DRV" and click START
- On the "Restore From" field, select or type: C:\WINDOWS\OPTIONS\INSTALL
- On the Save file in, type: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\ and click, OK

That should do it!

OK, one thing at a time.

A fresh 'compressed' copy of winspool.drv is located in the
\win9x\WIN_16.CAB on your WinMe CD. Use msconfig.exe to extract and restore
it to the Windows\System folder.

My 'guess' is that re-installing WinMe has 'trashed' the path statements for
all your non-Windows applications in the registry - which means that you are
going to have to re-install them all again.

You can change your product key etc. using regedit at:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion
But that means messing with your registry, at your own risk!!

Under the circumstances - and there may be more 'surprises' - in store! -
rather than 'over installing' you may be better cutting your losses by
retrieving/backing-up your important data, starting over and doing a clean
install.

If you decide that you want to do a clean install, take a look at (and print
out) the "cleanhd.txt" file in the win9x folder on your WinMe CD. You can
also view the "Windows Millennium Edition Cleanhd.txt File Contents" at:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;271673

HTH and good luck
Mart

Also, before posting a question. Try a Site Search. Either at the left, or top right of page. Might get lucky. Just use a common word, like for this instance; "winspool.drv".
Good luck
