Reply: (edit)You won't be able to use a Dell recovery CD on an HP. You also can't run a recovery while in Windows. If your machine is really so messed up, why not just reformat and reinstall ME? You should have received an ME Installation CD or at the very least a Recovery CD when you bought your HP computer.

Reply: (edit)When it says it can't find program.exe it is Windows cute way of saying it can't find the program file to start something or other. It's not an actual file - rather misleading. DerekW

Reply: (edit)Quite often older HP's used a hidden partition to store files required by the Recovery CD, if these files are corrupted it may be the cause of your problem. It is always best to buy a PC with an full version OEM CD.

Reply: (edit)So, you're indeed trying to use your Recovery CD for your HP on your HP? Insert your Recovery CD, restart your computer, set your BIOS to boot to the CD, and run the recovery.

Reply: (edit)Unless the error message is more informative it is difficult to determine which program it is wanting. It sounds like the system is rather screwed up, so it's best run with Jennifer's suggestion. DerekW

Reply: (edit)Randy, Still there, still having problems? Some questions, if you wouldn't mind answering. 1.) What is the model of this HP? {and I don't mean the monitor} 2.) Will this computer start up/boot to windows? {either normal or safe mode} 3.) Is/are the keyboard - mouse USB? If they are, is that what came with it. 4.) Do you have ALL the disks. That came with THIS computer? {floppy disk, CD, ect.} Thanks, CrazyOne

Reply: (edit)If we're indeed talking about the HP machine, try the F1 key to enter setup. The instructions are right on the HP website.. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/genericDocument?cc=us&docname=bph07110&lc=en#N10041
