hi everyone!i'm pretty much a frustrated computer user right now and i can't seem to find decent help anywhere, so this is really my last resort - i hope someone can help me!
i am currently working on a computer that runs windows ME and for the last 2 days, i have had trouble turning on my computer. you see, everytime i try to turn my computer on and load up windows, i get a message saying:
type the name of your command interperter.
what does that mean?! then there is space for me to type something.
the weird thing is, before this comes up, there's a line of writing that says STARTING WINDOWS 95 - i don't have windows 95!
what's going on?! sometimes if i wait a couple hours, and i try again..it works fine and i can get into windows and access my files.
please help!

Intermittent bootup faults may be due to failing hardware.
The main culprits may be RAM, motherboard battery, or your hard drive.
Does your computer keep good time ?
You might want to get a new battery anyway - 2 to 3 years is about the life expectancy.
Run scandisk, both standard and thorough, and see if your hard disk has any errors.

Hi Kate, the command line interpreter it is refering to is called "CommandCom"
Try this!... Boot your computer with a windows Me Boot Disk.. at the a:\ prompt type the following.... "sys c:" no quotations, when its done it will say "system transfered"
it should work
Goodluck!
