I am having trouble shutting down my Compaq Presario MV540 JBL edition. I just purchased the computer about a week ago and had a EZ card 10/100 Mbps Fast Ethernet PCI Card installed last night. Since then I have been unable to shut down the computer. The guy who installed the card came back to fix the problem but couldn't. Please help. Nasbah

I use this little program called active shutdown. not spyware, and its free. http://download.cnet.com/downloads/1,10150,0-10001-103-0-1-7,00.html?tag=srch&qt=%22active+shutdown%22&cn=&ca=10001
or go to www.download.com and search for "active shutdown"
works great! also go into startup through msconfig and uncheck as many unnecessary programs that are running.
good luck!
