Huge Problems w/Windows ME

I bought a Toshiba w/Windows ME pre-installed. I have had the computer about 3-4 weeks and it has already crashed about 15-20 times. I sent it back to Toshiba to reinstall the software, which supposedly was corrupt, but when I got it back all the same problems were there. My girlfriend thinks Windows ME is corrupt, but what can I do to uncorrupt it?

You only have to update the web browser to ie5.5 sp1 . They should have at least done that for you. The browser that comes with retail me is beta and buggy.
