HP scanjet 5p setup problems

I've not been able to setup my scanner under windows ME. I downloaded the latest drivers from HP but when I open the setup.exe I get an invalid path error, saying "Fatal error setup was unable to continue" HP no longer supports my scanner by phone and only scetchy breif stuff on thier F.A.Q.s any ideas would be much help! Thanks Steve

go to start>>control panel>>scanners and cameras>>double click ,it will launch wizard which will help you install when asked for driver give location of latest downloaded driver.
also before doing this check device manager and see if any scanner is listed , delete it and restart.
