I've been trying to get a ScanJet 5P SCSI plugged on a SYMBIOS ISA scsi card running under Windows ME. I got the drivers from Symbios which detected the SCSI card no problem. When I installed DeskScan 2.9, it found the driver but when you try to run the scanner, I get a unable to find scanner on scsi port error or your scanner is already in use by another application.

Did anyone get the HP ScanJet 5P with original Symbio ISA SCSI card running under Windows ME? If so, HOW?

Feedback is appreciated. Thanks.

I know that the scanner is supported by Windows ME, but I think the scsi card is not. So I will try hooking up the scanner to an adaptec scsi card and try to make it work that way.

I have a ScanJet 5p with the original ISA scsi card, and the original CD with the drivers, when I bought it I had Windows 95, then I changeg to windows 98SE and it worked fine, when I changed to Windows ME I had a hardware conflict with my Creative Encore DXR3 card, if the scanner was not turned on durig boot, the DVD card couldnīt detect my DVD, so I left the driver that windows ME installed by default, the scanner worked, but you canīt take advantage of itīs real power, you canīt change the size of the output image, just the resolution. Now I changed to Windows XP, I bought an Adaptec SCSI card, the scanner works, but again with limitations and it takes close to 2 minutes to boot since I installled the adaptec SCSI card (I tried all configuration possible), so if somebody has a tip or info for me I will apreciate, or if you are interested on the original drivers (HP) or buying mu ISA SCSI card, send a message

I have the same problem, only with win 98se. First installed scanner software and symbios card on my p 166 with win 95. No problem. Upgraded tp win 98 se and 32 bit fat files. Still no problem. Recently I had to "re-install" win 98 se and now I receive the same message. I have tried all of HP's and other suggestions, but still no go. I think mabe the scsi card was still using win 95 files after the upgrade, but with the re-install the files were upgraded to win 98 version and caused the incompatibility with the card. I don't know. Any suggestions? I have downloaded the new suggested drivers from HP and their net software but it does not make a difference. If anyone has any solutions please let me know. Thanks
