Comment: i have a hp pavillion and win ME-time warner cable provided me with their cable modem and a linksys ethernet card. (to give me cable access instead of phoneline access w/ a 56k) when ever i play counter strike(an online game) the computer always restarts. it is not only in counter strike that it restarts but any thing having to do with the cable it restarts...SPONTANIOUSLY. Whether its AIM, Napster, Winamp or just plane internet explorer the computer restarts. and once in a while a white message box with black font pops up during the restart with a heading of "Kernal 32" and it explains in complexity a general error that occurred. the ethernet card is for win 95/98 and a pentium---i have win ME and a intel celeron processor.(is that my problem?) before the cable was installed i had none such problems with spontanious restarting. i have no idea what it could be or if any of the modifications to my comp are the source of the problem. please respond asap with a solution. thanx

Reply: (edit)I had the same problem when first upgrading to WinMe. The problem showed itself when on the internet or even when network printing. I believe that the problem was fixed by updating Internet explorer 5.5. My first update was an interim patch that was released a few months back and then the sp1 that is available now. I have had no autoreboots since. Hope this helps...good luck
