I am having few problems after I restore my Win ME using the original HP CDs. First, I won't be able to shut down the system once in a while. And after I manually shut down the system, it will run the scandisk. Second, I got this hibernation mode on when I walked away for a little while, and I had to either manually turn it on or press Enter to get it back on. How should I fix the problems?? Anyone? Thanks a lot.

After you restored you pc did you do a windows update ? You need to go out and get all the critical updates and there is patch for shutdown that gives more time before it shuts itself down , alot of these fast harddrives shutdown to fast before everything gets written back to the drive and this causes errors which in turn will cause it to run scandisk next time boot up . Get the patch for this , maybe this is what you are seeing , anyway you should get all the critical updates , if you use dialup you are going to have to download them over night because there are that many after you rebuild .
