HP Laser Jet 4050 series to print legal

I need to find out how to set the third tray to print legal documents 8.5x14 i've tried messing with the configuration menu on the printer itself, and settings from the computer but to no avail. as of yet the only way to print on legal paper is to use tray 1 and load the paper manually. I would really appreciate any help with this matter. Thank you in advance.
