hp 8200 cd writer

running 400 penetium2 with win me,128mb ram it is a gateway system and have hp 8200 cdwriter. everytime u put blank cd in to burn, it does not recoginize it. cables and jumpers are all at right settings.device manager shows the burner is there. just cant get it to burn with any kind of burning software. any suggestions would be helpful.

What Software and Versions were you trying? Are you using 650 or 700meg CD's? Have you checked in Device Manager to see if the Burner is still there? EZCD 5+ and Nero 5.5 work well in WinME

its not the burning program or the cds i tried different ones, usaully when i put a cd in the read light pops on but it doesnt anymore so i know theres something wrong

EZCD 5+ does not recognize the HP 8200 series CD writer. Try uninstalling and then reinstalling the drives drivers and writing software. I would assume that your drive came with EZCD Creator 2.5 as mine did and it seems that this is the only software that this drive will work properly with. Nero works but has a few quirks from time to time.
