This may be a stupid question but I don't know how to start up in MS DOS. I want to run a .dat program but have to run it in MS DOS without windows running. I created a ME boot disk but I don't know how to boot up from the a: drive. When I restart and press F to enter start up menu the only options I have are: Normal, Logged (\BOOTLOG.TXT), Safe Mode, and Step by Step confirmation. Your help is appreciated.
Hard Drive menu : 1. ST320413A-PM 2. Bootable Add-in Cards
Removeable Devices: 1. Legacy Floppy Drives
Isn't the above, (1-4), the order the computer boots its components? I have tried booting the Diagnositic screen and floppy check both in disable and enable.
Luke, IF i am reading your question right (just me...hehe), then restart PC with yer ME BootDisc in A drive. You will enter a screen after a minute, where it says..... 1. HELP, 2. Start PC WITH CDRom Support, 3. Start PC WITHOUT CDRom Support. 4. Minimal Boot
Choose 1. "HELP"
then when you arrive at yer Help Screen after a 30 seconds, hit ALT on keyboard (that highlights FILE TAB on top of Help Screen). Then use DOWN ARROW on keyboard to scroll down to EXIT on File Tab. Hit ENTER on keyboard. Wait 30 seconds. You will then arrive with a DOS Prompt A:\
you can change that to C: ENTER (fer C:\ drive)or E: ENTER (fer your CDRom Drive).
NOTE: Drive D:\ has been TEMPORARILY assigned to E:\ untill you re enter Windows ME.
to get out of DOS and back into WinME Desktop.......at any DOS Prompt (A:\ C:\) just remove Start-Up Floppy from Drive and hit Restart (Reset) Button on yer Box.
