Comment: Well, I know this has gotta look about as dumb as it gets, but I've never wanted to get to the DOS prompt in Win ME, and now that I do, I notice there is no menu in shutdown to restart to DOS. What's the procedure?

Reply: (edit)Go to start/programs/accessories/MS-Dos prompt and try that. This still leaves your current Windows session running in the background to which you can return by typing exit followed by return. Goog Luck Fred

Reply: (edit)or just click the x to close the dos prompt. winme doesn't support real mode dos. to do things in dos that windows won't allow you need to use a startup disk and choose with or without cd-rom support or minimal boot for things like flashing the bios.also handy to delete things that windows won't let you.

Reply: (edit)Thanks to both Ed and Fred for replying so quickly... it was the startup disk/minimal boot that did it. I wanted real mode DOS. Thanks fellas.
