The reason I am asking this, is I copied old hard drive info to new drive with the Maxtor software provided and when I went online it kept sticking, so thought I would do a system restore from a couple of days ago and no restore points, so I just want to make sure nothing else is missing....All Windows Updates, no virus or trojens, no spyware, scandisk and defrag everything is good. (so just wanted to check files somehow)

hello sue have a look in device manager from safe mode any ghost drives? if so remove them. and allso remove new hard drive from device manager and reboot. to make sure drivers for the new drive are picked up. it should not have been a problem. this might not help. did you happen to look at the amount of space old drive that was used. and how much is on the new one. allso befor cloneing drives its allways works better if scandisk and defrag were done first. i have not used maxtor to clone drive. just ghost. allso if you did not remove old drive after cloneing this could cause you seriuse problems haveing two hd,s with the exact same o/s and no boot manager. can corupt the registrys on both hd,s

Thanks wawdave, I found out what was wrong, I installed a Camera and the camera was not what I wanted so I took it back and got a bigger hard drive instead & when I uninstalled the camera (you know how it leaves junk) well it did not remove the driver and in msconfig start up was starting it up for somereason but could not find it. All is well now, think everything is fine.
And the Maxtor software transfers from slave to master before you take it out, so it works great I had image using PQ Drive Image, but I just did it while hooking up the drive, seemed easier, so I have also reinstalled xp and everything seems fine. Thank You

Think you will like it, on my computer Compaq forum told me to unhook my zip drive before transfering one hard drive to the other, can't remember exactely why so I just pulled the plug off and just had cdr-rw pluged in so don't know if you have a compaq or even if it would apply to your situation guess it depends on your computer but just for saftey I just did what they said then after just pluged it back in. When I got into their software it is real detailed.
