How many patches & updates do I have to install to get ME to function like a real operating system is suppose to which is stable? Or at least reasonably stable.

Did I say my world had ended? I thought you were the one that is suppose to have all this great knowledge & answered post intelligently. Believe me my world is not going to end. I did NOT buy ME by the way. I have 2 machines running Win98SE & thought on one I would try ME, seeing that I did not buy it to see how it was. By the way CrackPipe I dont like you anyway from reading some of your post. They & you are stupid. Go back to your dumb phases.

I, like you, did not buy it either. I installed it for experimental purposes also. My world is not going to end over some Microsoft Crap. I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. I'ts back to my former OS now. By the way CrackPunk instead of trying to get smart with people you need to tend to your own post & worry about your own slander than trying to get smart with someone else.

I have installed Win ME and have found it to be very stable. I have installed over 50 differen't programs and all work fine. I have however ran into some that I couldn't get to run but thats life with a new OS. I believe it all depends on your system and setup for example I here are my system specs.

ABit BX6 rev 2 motherboard
celeron 366 OC'd @ 550 ppga cpu
256k pc100 ram
seagate 4.3 HD
voodoo 3 2000 Vid Card (OC'd also)
Memerex 40x cdrom
Creative Labs CD Writer
Monster Sound MX 300 Sound Card
AT&T cable with DLink 10/100 NIC

I keep my OS clean by using regclean and other daily maintanance. I am also a bit of a tweak freak so. I have found "ME" to be a very stable OS with nice features. I would tend to believe that a good portion of problems with "ME" on this messbo are do to user setup and system config. It's all about decisions. If you don't like "ME" don't use it. :)

If you dont like ME then dont use it! Wiz didn't these ladies say they just installed Me to see what it was about? They did not plan on continueing to use it. Neither am I. My preference is NT. Not all of us freak out over Me just curious about what folks are saying. So kiss off people. We dont need you guys offensive comments because we truly dont care.

I eased over here from the linux forum to check on what people are saying about other operating systems & I must say this WinME forum is the worst on slander/cursing/rude remarks that I have ever seen. I understand you ladies being curious. I like trying out different operating systems but it doesn't mean I am going to switch. Ignore the rude comments. Don't lower yourself to there level.

Let me get this one.....you didn't BUY Win-ME so you claim. Then you installed a licenced copy on your machine that was pirated or owned by a friend....thusly you commited CC infringment. Only one copy on one machine. It is unlawful to install software on more than one machine....
Needless to say my end of the world comment is true and actually ment for people that see ironey.....prehaps you feel guilty since you broke the CC law?
Ah your all so funny.....It's not the end of the world though!

How many people follow the one copy on one machine law. Dont tell me you dont own ANY pirated software. There are TONS of places on the internet including serial numbers/Everything you need. And newsgroups are full of pirated software to download.

Lots of people shoot other people in the head, so using your method as long as everybody is doing it it should be OK!!
Lots of people drive drunk, since lots of people do it you can tell that to the judge when you get busted and the judge will get you one on the house to boot.
My point I thought seemed clear! Where in this,"How many patches & updates do I have to install to get ME to function like a real operating system is suppose to which is stable? Or at least reasonably stable."did I get the idea that,"Did I say my world had ended? I thought you were the one that is suppose to have all this great knowledge & answered post intelligently. Believe me my world is not going to end. I did NOT buy ME by the way. I have 2 machines running Win98SE & thought on one I would try ME, seeing that I did not buy it to see how it was. I got the feeling that this "thing" had a problem running ME on her machine??? With miss superdupers post I sort of felt that she was upset! Since she took the offending OS out and resolved her own issue wyh did she express her problems in the present tense?? I will tell you why! She is a po po head....na na na na na*********************

LMMFAO @ U CRACK! Dood you rule...anyhoo, Ok it seems as though my post's seem offensive to some. I truely and regretably did not mean for it to come out that way. I am simply stating that life is made of choices and it's a free country to do as you please. If you do not like Win "ME" don't use it. There is no harm in my suggestion as I am a puuurty open mided fellow :). I origanally ran win95 then 98 and on to 98se and then thought I would give ME a go. I installed it liked it and still use it. I have no complaints. I also frequent this forum and help where I can. I can also admit that I suppose I get offended when folks thrash "ME". Although I understand why from the many complaints and issues that I read here. I have used Win NT at work and am not quite comfortable enough with it yet to switch to 2000. Please, Let's all lighten up a lil.

Give Wiz a break. He seems like an ok guy. But for me personally I could care less how much slander Me gets or for that matter any other OS as long as it works for me. Why get offended.

Did find here some strange reactions :os

I have Win ME since a month on a new system (AbitKT7-RAID, Duron 700 MHz, 128 MB, Ati RAdeon 64MB DDR vivo, 2 Harddisks about 13GB, 2 CDRoms, 1CDRW, SBLive, Realtec networkcard and that's about it I guess) and the thing is still working.
Win ME is the first of the Windows9X family, which SEEMS stable to me. (the question how many patches &... isn't that strange if you look at the previous OSes).
the userinterface is the one of win2k (as far as I noticed).
Few remarks:
- a fw days ago, I cleaned up the
temporary directory (windows\temp)
since I only had about 2GB
free space on my first drive...now I
have over 9 GB free space

- Did read some rumors about wrong saving
of system files when shuting down on
900 Mhz machines... there SHOULD be a
patch, although I haven't found any yet

Buy the way: Win ME has something like an auto update... that wouldn't be necessary if Redmond doesn't expect patches... would it ????
