I want to be able to leave and know that NOBODY can mess around on my computer. Can someone tell me if/how this can be done EASILY?
Thanks,
Bruce

Take the power-supply with you...
OK, sensibly, you may be able to put a boot password on (depending on your BIOS). Otherwise you'd have to use a more secure operating system such as Windows2000 or Linux. Win9x/ME passwords can be simply ignored.

The BIOS password will keep everyone out of your computer but CAUTION! If you forget your BIOS password you are "screwed." The BIOS password can usually be reset but it is usually not pretty nor easy.

There is a registry edit that allows you to remove the option of escaping or canceling around the windows password screen, unfortunately I am at work and my notes for how to do this are at home. It works though
and it doesn't screw up your bios. Anyone else out there know this edit?

Hey, I found it on my work computer. I have done this on a Win98 machine I haven't tried it on ME.

To force Users to Logon To Windows
First you need to run registry editor. To do this, go Start, Run, Regedit.
The entry we are looking for is under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Then next folder you should open is Network, then open the folder Logon.
Here in the Logon is where we are going to make NEW STRING VALUE.
This String Value will be MustBeValidated just like that with MBV capitol and no spaces. The Data Entry must be 1. This turns the option on.
You must have a user name created on this computer for it to work correctly, and also have it changed to Microsoft Family Logon. Any usernames created after this data is input will still work. If you cannot get in under that user name for any reason such as a changed password, press F5 on boot up and go into safe mode. In safe mode you can enter the registry editor and delete the String Value MustBeValidated that is stopping you from entering windows. You can also add user names in Safe Mode if need be.

I hope this helps. Like I said it worked for me. We keep employees from using my wifes computer at her business with this. The BIOS password is probably more secure however.
